چکیده
CASE REPORT A 2-week-old boy was referred to our hospital for evaluation of left cryptorchidism. He was a result of a full-term normal pregnancy. The infant was well developed proportional to his age. On genital examination, the right testis was in normal size and located in the scrotum, but the left testis was not palpable in the scrotum. No other physical abnormalities were detected. Outpatient follow-up till the age of 1 year revealed no change in his clinical picture. Thus, left orchiopexy was planned. The operation was performed through a left lower-quadrant incision. After exploration, the left testis was found in the abdominal cavity adjacent to the lower pole of the left kidney. A reddish-brown structure appeared posteriorly. The incision was laterally extended and a cord of dark-red structure was found, which was in close relation to the spermatic cord and the vessels. The structure was traced to the lower pole of the spleen and excised completely (Figure). Then, the spermatic cord vessels were ligated, and finally after 3 months, a left orchiopexy-on-vas was performed. Histopathological examination of the structure revealed normal splenic tissue.

A 36 year-old man after tests for assessing male infertility was diagnosed with primary infertility, bilateral cryptorchidism, nonobstructive azoospermia and discontinuous splenogonadal fusion. Carcinoma in situ was found in his left testicle, which was intraabdominal and associated with splenogonadal fusion. To our knowledge, this is the fourth case of splenogonadal fusion associated with test...
متن کاملSplenogonadal fusion: a very rare congenital anomaly in the differential diagnosis of a testicular mass.
Splenogonadal fusion is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by congenital fusion between the spleen and testicular tissue. In the literature, there are approximately 175 reported cases, and most of them are associated with cryptorchidism. In this article, we report an unusual case of splenogonadal fusion that was pre-diagnosed as a solid testicular mass in a patient who underwent orchiectomy.

Splenogonadal fusion (SGF) is a rare congenital abnormality that affects children of both genders. Very few cases of SGF have been diagnosed preoperatively. In this study, the surgical findings and laparoscopic treatment of four children with SGF associated with intra-abdominal cryptorchidism are described. Laparoscopy was demonstrated to be the only accurate exploratory procedure for the diagn...
